Spring happening with Andy & Heather

Being that's it's Memorial Day, we figured it's about time we made a post. Loved seeing all the baby pics, there's no bun for us yet, but we'll be sure to let you all know when it happens.

Lot's has been happening, as always. I'll just hit the highlights. The weather has been great, Andy loves mowing the lawn, Heather loves planting her new herbs and growing her garden. It seems like every week we rip something out, just cause we can maybe. It's been a lot of fun to actually own our first house, getting to know our neighbors, and finding all the fun things to do within walking distance.

Andy has been longing for a new bicycle since he broke his last fall while mountain biking. To hold him over from a high-quality mtn bike, he bought an old 10-speed huffy from a garage sale down the street. Circa 1985, the year he was born. He loves to ride it all around and it working up to attempt a ride to work, about 10 miles. He's also be engaging in an increasing amount of more manly activities, i.e. growing a reddish-blonde beard, camping, washing the truck, and eating lots of hamburgers. During a Chi Alpha Event called 'The Salon', Andy got to dust off his guitar skills and play a parody of a song by a band named Train - "Drops of Jupiter" with a friend. Click here to see the video. Trying to tackle the Green Monster in our front yard, we haven't decided if it was successful. We might be posting a picture of us pulling it out soon :)

Heather has been doing what she loves as well. She still works 4 days a week at Qdoba, and 1 full day of volunteering at Chi Alpha (Wright State Campus Ministry). She loves them both, Chi Alpha more, but both nonetheless. She has been getting a variety of plants from mothers, mother-in-laws and grandmothers, and loving every single one of them. Most of them have survived, thankfully. She is working on a raised bed for tomatoes and other garden vegetables, and is hoping to get Andy to like more vegetables, because red meat can't grow in the backyard.

We loved our Memorial Day weekend, we went camping with Chi Alpha for most of it, and enjoyed God's creation, the weather, relaxing, and we got to spend some wonderful time with friends that really love Jesus. Andy gave a talk Sunday morning to the group on Romans 1:20 about how God's character can be seen through His creation - and how we need to have a lifestyle consisting of verbally and openly praising Him for it. It's a wonderful verse (highly recommended).

We are very excited for Summer to start. Even though we are out of school, our time seems to run on college-quarters because of our involvement with Chi Alpha. We can't wait to see all of you guys at the baby dedication, including the newest additions!

P.$. I meant to send this as an email but I thought it might be well put here. Regarding the economy and all of the doom-and-gloom it has been very easy to change our habits, especially regarding money. Some of those are good, some of those not so good. One of the books that has really changed our perspective on money and God, and God's kingdom is a book call Daring to Live on the Edge: An Adventure in Faith and Finances by Loren Cunningham (only $6). I was unaware of this man before I read the book but he and his wife founded YWAM (Youth with a Mission) Christian missionary group that basically pioneered the idea of short-term mission trips. The stories of his ministry are phenomenal and are very encouraging and enlightening to read. The book is not just about money but a lot about life too, and how as we invest into what God is doing (not just with $), He returns and returns it (again, not just $).

So with that big plug, haha, I just wanted to encourage all who read this to trust in our Provider, no matter what CNN/FOX says about the economy. Malachi 3:8 talks about how we are to 'test' the Lord in this (tithes and offerings) and He will throw open the floodgates of heaven and pour out so much blessing that you will not have room enough for it. So when the world seems to be hiding away and sitting on it's wealth, let's trust in the Lord and His word and give :)
